Over the past few months, Economy Airport Hotel has gone from rags to riches thanks to staff who were determined to get more rooms in service.
"You can really see the WOW factor," said Stablegold Design Lead Shaba Jamal.
Aiming for a timeless look that would add value to the property in any era, Jamal decided to use design techniques that provided brighter, open spaces. Inside the lobby, floor tiles were also used on the wall to create a spacious floor-to-wall look. Outside, lighter colours were painted on to the building envelope to brighten up the property and conceal any nicks, marks and dents.
While Jamal was executing her streak for chic, Airport GM Sylvia Williams and her team was hard at work putting 25 more rooms in service. She believes the effort is now paying off in revenue dollars. "It's driving more business," said Williams. "The newer rooms, which also cost more, get taken first."
Williams plans to get 5 more rooms in service over the next few weeks.
